What is Chiropractic?  Chiropractic is a healing art which
utilizes the body's inherent recuperative powers to heal itself.
The body is only capable of self-healing if the spine and other
joints are in perfect alignment.   When a bone in the body
becomes misaligned it may cause pressure on a nerve.  This
pinched nerve can cause pain, numbness, tingling, headaches
and much, much more.  The misalignment along with nerve
pressure is called a subluxation.  Only a chiropractor is licensed
and trained to find and correct these misalignments.  Once the
bones stay in the proper alignment and pressure is removed,
the body can then start to repair itself which leads to decreased
pain and increased function.  Most people seek chiropractic
care for pain relief.  Once pain relief is achieved many continue
care on a regular basis to prevent future problems and
maintain their health.  This discipline of healing has been dated
back to the time of Hippocrates where stone carvings depict
spinal corrections.  So chiropractic is far from new.

What can chiropractic help?  Auto, Sports and Work
Injuries-
Chiropractic is a safe treatment method for all three of
these injuries and is the most effective non-surgical alternative.
Those subluxations or pinched nerves are usually the culprit in
causing the associated symptoms.  In addition, chiropractic can
enhance the performance of athletes as well as keep downtime
of injuries to a minimum.

Pain- Sometimes those pinched nerves  just creep up on you
without your knowledge.  You may just happen to wake up with
it one morning or just turn or lift something the wrong way and
feel immediate pain.  The sooner you seek help the sooner you
can feel better.  Remember, it is easier and quicker to correct a
problem in the early stages.  The longer you wait, the more
serious the problem becomes.  Chiropractic care is one
emerging area in which patients with certain aggressive
malignancies, including  mesothelioma, have introduced into
formal and traditional treatment regimens.  For more
information go to
mesothelioma.com.

Pregnancy- During your pregnancy you start to gain most of
the weight in the abdominal area.  This imbalance causes you
to bend backward to counter balance the additional weight up
front.  This new posture causes increased stress on the spine
and other joints.  In addition, the hormonal changes make your
ligaments looser which can cause less stability.  Chiropractic is
an effective alternative to drugs which can be harmful to the
little one.  Many new mommies also have back problems after
birth.  Birth itself is very strenuous for mother and child.  Both
can be treated safely with chiropractic care.

Does My Insurance Cover Chiropractic? The Grand Lake
Health Center accepts most health insurance and all auto
insurance plans. Pacificare, Aetna, ASHP, Cigna, PHCS
Medicare, Blue Cross, Blue Shield and United Healthcare are
some examples of plans with chiropractic coverage.  We also
accept patients who have been injured in car accidents.  Even if
you do not have medical coverage on your auto insurance
policy we can still treat you on credit if the accident was not
your fault.  Some patients may pay for their care out of their
own pockets as well.  In these cases a cash discount can be
granted.  Whatever the case may be, we will work with you to
help you obtain the care that you need.

How Long Does It take To Feel Better?  The amount of time
required for recovery with chiropractic care  varies.  Some of
the major factors that determine the length of care are:

However, many people feel much better after their first
treatment.    The treatment itself is divided into three phases of
care.  They are the pain phase, the correction phase and the
stabilization phase.  Once you achieve all three, you can bet
that the problem will stay gone.  For additional Frequently
